Amazing Day

Thursday was a wonderful day. IT was a full day of meeting people, teaching and playing with children, and finishing work projects. The FMH crew is almost done with the bathrooms and showers. Plumbing is completed downstairs and toilets and sinks will be installed on Friday morning and afternoon.

Martin's crew acquired an interesting job yesterday. Several months ago, Peggie met with Tribal Housing and they invited us to stop by when we were in town to see if they needed any help. Aesthete, Martin and co. Were sent on a job to replace the gutters on a local house. It was an all day project, and tested patience and efficiency. The team did well with the unusual circumstances, and they persevered until the job was done. Today they are cleaning up - making a final trip to the house from yesterday and heading to the dump.

Several people are helping with tutoring in the morning, and at Larry Peterson's in the afternoon. This has been a wonderful experience. Larry Peterson has a passion for children, and he does an excellent job teaching them through playing. Yesterday, we were able to play pool and ping pong, make crafts, and talk with children.

Following a hard day at work, we had a market in the church parking lot. Starting on day 1, local artists and craft-makers would stop by to show their work. However, due to the dispersed nature of our work, many were not able to see the arts and crafts. So in order to both allow the artists to show their stuff to the most people, and so that our group had a chance to see what was available, we invited artists and crafts-people to the church on Thursday night from 5-6 pm. We had no idea if this would work, but 6 artists showed up with bracelets, earrings, paintings, and dreamcatchers (among other pieces). Our team appreciated their work, and one artists completely sold out. It was fun to talk with the artists and see a wide-range of artistic gifts. I will post pictures of the market later today.

Pray for our team as we finish projects. Also pray for safe travel tonight as we go to the powwow in Kyle (the town). Finally, pray that we rest well tonight, and that we arrive home safely tomorrow.

Thank you for keeping up with our trip; your comments have encouraged us.

This blog will stay active over the next couple of weeks, so be sure to check back for more pictures and posts from other team members.
